A Historic Setting

Nestled in Porto's historic Miragaia quarter, along the Douro riverfront, Fado Maior do Porto welcomes you with its centuries-old walls and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Portugal has two kinds of Fado.
Hear them both.

Traditional Fado

The Fado the world knows, and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2011.

Coimbra Fado

This centuries-old tradition brings together the refinement of classical music and the raw power of folk expression.

What makes Fado Maior do Porto different?

We're the only venue in Porto — and in Portugal — with a daily programme featuring two styles of Fado in the same evening, performed by two different groups: Traditional Fado and Coimbra Fado. In a small, centuries-old tavern in Miragaia, where the artists perform just a few metres from you.
