Pure Fado

There is commercial Fado and there is authentic Fado. We prefer the latter. But true Fado is not just a selection of repertoire: it’s when artists and audience become confidants in the same emotion, when the boundary between those who sing and those who listen disappears.

The show opens with Portugal’s other captivating Fado style: Coimbra Fado. Born over a century ago among university students in Coimbra, this beautiful tradition blends refined classical elements with the raw power of folk expression

How do I find Fado Maior do Porto?

You’ll find us at Rua de Miragaia 54, 4050 – 386 Porto, just a pleasant 7-minute stroll from Ribeira.

Coming by bus? Hop on routes 403, 500, or 900, get off at Miragaia stop, and it’s a quick 2-minute walk.

Driving? Park at Alfandega Parking Garage (R. Nova da Alfândega 80, 4050-385 Porto), only 250 meters from our door.

When can I see a performance and how long does it last?

Performances last approximately 1 hour.

Should I book in advance?

We recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance – you’ll reserve your seat and benefit from a special discount. However, if you visit us spontaneously and we have availability, we’ll be happy to welcome you.

What's the ticket price, and what does it include?

Tickets are €21, though you’ll enjoy a special discount when booking through our website.

Your ticket includes a seat at our intimate Fado performance plus a welcome drink – choose between a glass of Porto’s famous port wine or water.

Is dinner included with the show? Can I buy food or additional drinks?

Our performances are purely focused on the art of Fado, so we don’t serve dinner.

Your ticket includes a complimentary glass of port wine or a bottle of water, and you’re welcome to purchase additional drinks if you’d like. We don’t serve food – this way, nothing distracts from the powerful musical experience.

Can I bring my children to the performance?

Our performances are best enjoyed by those 12 and older, so we’ve set that as our minimum age for attendees.

Is there a dress code?

Not at all – come as you are and be comfortable.

Can I take photos or videos during the performance?

Yes, you’re welcome to capture memories as long as you’re considerate of the artists and other guests. Just remember: keep your devices on silent mode, no flash or extra lighting, and please don’t block anyone’s view with your camera or phone.
